Hyderabad: It is not known when would Osmania University get the grant of Rs. 20 crore from Universities Grant Commission. It may be mentioned that UGC had sanctioned a grant of Rs. 50 crore in 2013 for its development. At its first phase, UGC released Rs. 30 crore. The entire grant was to be used within a span of 5 years. OU utilized the grant of Rs. 30 crore and sent a report in 2015 to UGC. OU is awaiting the inspection team so that the remaining Rs. 20 crore could be released by UGC.
It may noted that Osmania University is functioning without a VC for the past 1 year and Principal Secretary, Dept. of Higher Education is the incharge VC.
