The contract workers in the Osmania University staged a dharna before the Administrative Block on Thursday demanding immediate hike in their wages.
The contract workers raised slogans demanding that the University administration increase their wages in proportion to the rising prices of the essential commodities. They also demanded that OU authorities regularize the services of contract workers on the basis of seniority. Their other demands were Maternity Leave to women employees and strict implementation of Labour Laws.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union leaders warned that they would chalk out a prolonged agitation program if the OU authorities failed to concede their legitimate demands. (NSS)
