Hyderabad: Mohammed Qamaruddin, Chairman Telangana State Minorities Commission visited Osmania University here along with M.A. Azeem Member, TSMC today upon receiving a complaints from the minorities.
Prof. S. Ramachandram, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ch. Gopal Reddy, Registrar, Prof. Mahabeen Akhtar, Director Minority Cell, Osmania University, Chandra Shekar Poddar, OSD, OU, Dr. Moid Javeed, Head of the Department Urdu, OU and Prof. Venkateshwarulu, Legal Cell Director welcomed the Chairman on this occasion.
Dr. Moid Javeed, HOD Urdu Department explained to the Chairman, that the Osmania University was started by Nizam, with the medium of instruction as Urdu, but now it becomes limited to three professor only—one Professor and two Asst. Professor only– as there is no appointment of Urdu Professors in the University.
S. Ramachandram, VC stated that the appointment of professor was banned by the Supreme Court in the Centre. But now the ban is lifted. The UGC has given permission for appointing Professors in the Universities. He said that the OU also preparing to give notification in the month of January 2019 for appointment of professor in Urdu and other languages.
Dr. Anjum Unissa, PhD, working as part time lecturer, said that if the ban of appointing was lifted, she may be appointed as professor in Urdu.
The Head of the Department of Urdu requested Mohammed Qamaruddin, to take initiative to appoint more professors in the Department of Urdu, Arabic, and Farsi as this university is having world wide image.
In Urdu Medium 25 students are studying as Research Scholars, 25 in Arabic PhD, 1st year, 23 students are Christian Research Scholars and 10 are Farsi Minorities
