Kolkata: India pacer Mohammed Shami faces charges of attempting to murder his wife by poisoning her after the cricketer’s wife Hasin Jahan accused him of physically and mentally torturing her and having extra-marital affairs, police said on Friday.
A First Information Report filed at the Jadavpur police station charges the cricketer and four others with various sections of the Indian Penal Code including attempt to murder, rape, criminal intimidation and causing hurt by means of poison.
Now, Mohammed Shami responded to all his wife’s allegations. When asked what he actually wants to do now, he replied that the fight was between husband and wife, however, she made it public and others got the opportunity to talk about the issue. He also said that he wants to solve the issue mutually. He further expressed concern about his daughter.
During the conversation, he said that there is someone who is behind this controversy and said that his wife cannot take such step on her own. Replying to the question, “Is it the first time such conflict took place between the couple”, he said that although conflicts took place none was of this type.
Earlier, narrating one of the incidents, Hasin Jahan had claimed that Shami asked her to make a physical relationship with his brother. She further claimed that Shami’s brother tried to misbehave with her after cricketer locked her along with his brother. “After I shouted, Shami opened the door”, she added. Responding to this allegation, Shami said that it is baseless. On torture allegation, he asked, if it was a reality why she did not speak about this till earlier.
Talking about another allegation in which his wife alleged that Shami might be cheating nation, he said that “I am ready to die but cannot cheat nation”. He made it clear that right now neither he nor his family is able to contact Hasin Jahan. Finally, he made an appealed to the entire family to resolve the issue mutually rather than making it public.
It may be mentioned that earlier, Hasin Jahan had posted screenshots of Shami’s alleged WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger conversations with multiple women on her Facebook account. She also uploaded photos and phone numbers of the women.
