Oswals to set up fertiliser plant in AP

Hyderabad, September 22: Oswal Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited, a pioneer in fertiliser plants, has evinced interest in setting up a fertiliser plant with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore in the state.

The fertiliser unit with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million ton urea will be based on natural gas. The company has also proposed to establish a one million ton capacity di-ammonium phosphate plant with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore.

Abhay Oswal, chairman and managing director of Oswal Chemicals and Fertilisers, today met chief minister K Rosaiah and discussed the issue. The chief minister responded positively for the proposal and assured to clear the proposal at the earliest. Rosaiah felt that the fertiliser unit will be in the best interest of the state to meet its agrarian needs in future.

Oswal informed the chief minister that the fertiliser plant will employ about 5,000 people during construction phase and will provide employment to about 1,000 skilled and unskilled personnel after commencement of operations.

A request for allocation of natural gas for the fertiliser project has already been forwarded to the ministry of petroleum and natural gas through the ministry of chemicals and fertilisers.
