Osmania Police Station’s security beefed up

Hyderabad, June 29: As their plans of shifting out did not materialise, the authorities have now decided to turn the Osmania University campus police station into a fortress with a compound wall with fencing and a watch tower similar to the police stations in Naxal-affected areas.

The police is anticipating that the anti-establishment movement will flare up again soon. To this effect, six platoons of AP special police have also been deployed for the protection of the OU police station.

The East Zone deputy commissioner of police, Mr Y. Gangadhar, said, “We couldn’t find a suitable building for the police station near the Tarnaka area. We can’t shift if the building is far away from the OU campus, so we have made certain security arrangements to protect the police station.”

The police has built a compound wall with chain-link fencing. A barbed wire fencing and watch tower will also be set up for round-the-clock surveillance. Flood lights will light up the area to identify intruders and an emergency power supply system, including a generator, has also been set up.
