Osmania to host Telangana conclave

Hyderabad, August 14: Commemorating the Telangana Liberation Day, Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) would hold `Telangana Atmagaurava Sabha’ at the Arts College on the university campus on September 17.

The OUJAC would decide its future course of action of their struggle for separate Telangana at the meeting.

This was announced by the OUJAC at a meeting held on Thursday to felicitate the 12 newly-elected legislators of TRS and BJP in the recent bypolls. The meeting was also held to welcome the fresh batch of students to the campus. “We call upon the students who have joined the university to fight for separate Telangana,’’ OUJAC member P Kailash said.

The meeting also passed a resolution demanding that the `false’ cases registered against the students, who participated in the Telangana agitation, be lifted immediately. It wanted the Centre to introduce a bill in the next Parliament session and take action against the 16 Seemandhra ministers for their ‘sedition’ remarks. Another resolution urging students not to commit suicides was also passed.

The students would form a human chain from the NCC gate to Tarnaka on August 18 to take a pledge against committing suicides. Seven of the 11 newly-elected TRS legislators, E Rajender, T Harish Rao, K Sammaiah, K Eshwar, K Vidyasagar Rao, D Vinay Bhaskar and N Odelu, and the lone BJP MLA Y Lakshminarayana were felicitated on the occasion. Telangana JAC convenor Prof Kodandaram and leaders of various teachers’ associations also participated.
