Putting an end to all apprehensions, health minister Laxma Reddy in clear words told that the 90-year-old, heritage building of Osmania General Hospital will not be razed. The health minister told that only repair works will be undertaken and a large portion of the building will be used as administrative block. A new structure will be built in the open available space adjacent to the OGH.
Heritage activists of the city have welcomed the decision. P Anuradha Reddy Convenor Indian National Trust for Art and Culture Heritage said ‘this is good news. Telangana government should accept the importance of all heritage structures of the city. The buildings have their own historical importance and financial benefit.’
Osmania General Hospital was designed by Vincent J. Esch, a European architect.
