Osmania and SA students arrested at PM’s residence

The Congress core committee met at the Prime Minister’s residence at 4 PM on Friday. Leaders of the Osmania University students JAC and Samaikya Andhra students JAC thronged there, carrying placards and raising slogans for and against Telangana.
Security personnel guarding the high security area turned tizzy when the students refused to be convinced to leave the place. They then arrested the student leaders and shifted them to the police station.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AICC president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi, union ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde, Ghulam Nabi Azad, A K Antony and the party’s state affairs incharge Digvijay Singh attended the meeting. Finance minister Chidambaram who was touring USA could not attend the meeting.
From Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha and the PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana were present. They came to Delhi with their road maps as directed by the Congress High Command. (NSS)
