In a heartrending incident occurred on February 22, two own brothers and their classmate lost their lives. The incident fluttered the entire Shaheen Nagar area. The two brothers were the only hope for their parents as the later have no other child except the two. 12-year-old Sheezan Ahmed Siddiqui and Rehan Ahmed Siddiqui were the student of 8th class in VIP school.
The two brothers along with the other victim Syed Jaffer and other boys went to Osman Nagar Pond. On the inspection of pond it was found out that the pond located in Muslim predominant locality lies open and has turned into death trap. Former mayor T Krishna Reddy had promised to pay Rs. 10000 to the deceased family. 42-year-old father of Sheezan and Rehan is suffering from kidney disease while his wife ekes out a living by stitching the clothes.
Locals are of the view that iron grills should be erected around the pond otherwise the pond will turn into a death trap. It must be recalled that another boy drowned in the ponds 20 days ago. While his uncle also lost his life in a bid to save the boy. During 2013 six boys drowned in the pond.
