Washington D.C.[USA], Nov 26 (ANI): Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, best known for his colourful visual style films, passed away at the age of 77 in Rome.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director passed away on Monday morning (local time).
His films include ‘Last Tango in Paris’ and ‘The Last Emperor’, for which he won the Academy Award for best director and best adapted screenplay.
He directed his first feature film, ‘La commare secca’, at the age of 22. It was a murder mystery about a prostitute’s homicide that used flashbacks to analyse the crime.
‘The Last Emperor’ was the first Western film made in China and won all nine Oscars for which it was nominated- best picture, director, writing, adapted screenplay, cinematography, film editing, costume design, art direction-set decoration, music, original score and sound.
