Osama warns Germany over war in Afghanistan

Kabul, September 26: Casting his shadow over the upcoming general elections in Germany, Osama Bin Laden warns officials in Berlin to stop supporting US forces in Afghanistan.

The latest audio message by the al-Qaeda chief posted on a website demanded European countries to end their alliance with the “gang of criminals in Washington” who have no regard for human life and intentionally bomb Afghan villagers from the air, the IntelCenter US monitoring group said on Friday.

“This indicator when viewed in light of the five Abu Talha videos this year, three of which have been released in the last eight days and their focus on the upcoming elections in Germany, significantly raises the threat level even further,” IntelCenter said.

It went on to add that the threat of a single or multiple-stage attack may occur in Germany or against German interests starting immediately extending for at least the next four weeks.

Germany is holding its general elections this coming Sunday and an attack can take place any time before, during or after the elections, IntelCenter said.

“Were you to see what your American ally and his helpers did in northern Afghanistan, and how they packed thousands of Taliban into freight containers like sardines and locked them inside until they died or were thrown into the river, you would understand the causes of the bloody events in Madrid and London,” the video subtitles in German and English quoted bin Laden as saying.

Germany has propped up security and is to “stay at this level for the time being”, Interior Ministry spokesman Stefan Paris told a government news conference on Friday.
