Orissa to look after Maoist-hit villagers: Naveen

Bhubaneswar, December 24: Orissa government today said it would look after the people who took shelter at K Balanga area in Sundergarh district due to Maoist fear.

“The government will look after the people who deserted their villages out of Maoist fear,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told reporters here, adding that arrangements would be made to ensure their safe return.

Stating that senior police officers have already reached at K Balang area to boost morale of the villagers, Patnaik said district collector and SP of Sundergarh were in touch with the people.

About 3,000 person were sheltered at temporary camps at K Balang and provided with essentials including food and clothing and medicine, he said.

Meanwhile, Maoists through media have also asked the people to return to the villages.
