Orissa to get 5 more CPMF battalions for anti-naxal ops

Bhubaneswar, January 12: Orissa is likely to get an additional five battalions of the Central Para-military Force (CPMF) for undertaking anti-naxalite operation in the state, officials said today.

“We have been assured five battalions (about 5,000 personnel) of Border Security Force (BSF) for anti-naxalite operations,” Orissa home secretary A P Padhi told a local television channel after attending a high-level meeting at New Delhi to tackle Left-wing extremism.

According to Padhi, the five battalions of CPMF would be helpful for conducting anti-naxalite operation in the state’s border with Jharkhand, Chhattishgarh, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
