Kolkata, Jun 06: Last year’s runner-up Orissa began their campaign in the National Junior Football Championship on a positive note by thrashing Andhra Pradesh 4-0 here today.
In the cluster II match, Orissa rode on a three-goal effort by Somnath Naik (9th, 50th & 67th) while Surjit Kujur scored in the 30th minute to blank their opponents.
In another match, Maharashtra came back from one goal deficit to beat Haryana 2-1. Haryana took the lead through Rahul in the 35th minute.
Maharashtra equalised through Zahir Iqbal Miyal in the 47th minute while M Nazeef netted the winner in the 85th minute.
In cluster IV, Jharkhand fought back from behind to beat Arunachal Pradesh 4-2.
F Lallianzuala scored in the 21st and 32nd minutes while Sanjay Sundi (46th) and Siaruazkima (77th) completed the tally.
