Orientation programme for fresh MBA batch begins at HBS

“As our business systems have become more dynamic and turbulent, we all need to be trained in management whatever field we belong to”, said Prof. B. Raja Shekhar, School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad. He participated in the inauguration of the MBA Programme 2014-2016 at Hyderabad Business School (HBS), GITAM University, as the Chief Guest, and formally began the Orientation Programme which will be held from 3rd to 5th of July 2014 for the freshly recruited batch of MBA students.

Advising the newly admitted students, he said, “As a manager, your job will be to see to it that your business is sustained with the help of optimization of quality services, effective and timely decision making amidst various challenges. You need to understand the philosophy of management and the context in which you are studying it. Get equipped with all skills and knowledge required for industry, and your placement will be ensured. Improve your productivity first. HBS has been proactive in updating its curriculum in tune with the needs of industry”. He congratulated the students for their choice of the field as well as the institution.

“A mismanaged society will collapse. Even if we are technologically competent, we need to learn to apply efficiently the management techniques to progress. Hence the need for excellent standards in management studies,” said Dr. N. Siva Prasad, Director, School of Technology, GITAM Hyderabad Campus.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof. S.S. Prasada Rao, assured the parents and the new batch of students that Hyderabad Business School ensures holistic development of its students, and believes in providing practical learning tools for its future managers.

Dr. M. Potha Raju, Registrar, GITAM University, welcomed the new students and the support that the university and its alumni provide to each generation of its students in their career, as well as quality education during the programme.

Remarking that excellence in teaching and research has already been established at GITAM, Major General (Retd.) Dr. R. Siva Kumar, Pro VC, GITAM Hyderabad Campus, welcomed the students to interact with and take advantage of the intellectual pool of other faculties on the campus.

Sri DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, faculty members, and parents of students participated in the programme.
Dr. M. Jayasree, Programme Coordinator, proposed a vote of thanks. The four-day Orientation Programme will have interactive lectures by eminent executives from top business houses like Siemens, Deloitte, Oracle, and ITC, apart from introductory lectures by the in-house faculty.(NSS)
