Oracle predicts good rains, slams politicians

Hyderabad, July 14: Here is some good news for the people of Andhra Pradesh. If the prophecy of this year’s Oracle (Swarna Lata) at the Rangam programme of Bonalu is to be believed, the State is all set to have good rainfall this year too.

Devotees vouch by the Rangam’s predictions at the Ujjaini Mahankali Temple, Secunderabad. Major questions posed by the organisers and priests revolved around the themes of recession and inflation. When asked about inflation, Swarna Lata said that divine intervention wasn’t necessary to keep a check on inflation levels. “There needs to be a lot of commitment and effort on part of political leaders to make essential commodities affordable for everyone,” she said. Swaroopa Rani fumed that several politicians were indulging in corruption and other illegal activities.

Swarna Lata said that politicians had neglected the poor since they were busy making money for themselves. This had resulted in prices of essential commodities spiralling beyond control and the public was paying a price.

However, in what appears to be a breather for the public, she predicted that the State would be peaceful this year without any calamities and epidemics.

On the matter of several people suffering from viral fevers, swine flu etc, Swarna Lata said that she would heal such illnesses. On lack of employment opportunities, the Oracle predicted that good days were ahead for the youth.

Even as Swarna Lata was asking for the sacrifice of a four-legged creature, the Bonalu organisers informed that the practice was banned. Once the prediction programme was over, organisers took out a huge procession in neighbouring areas.

The temple organisers said that the turnout this year was huge and larger than anticipated.

They also said that the Oracle had predicted a prosperous future for the State.

Meanwhile, devotees continued to pour in even after the Rangam programme concluded.

“This proves that people still have faith in God and traditions,” one of the organisers said.
