Bangalore : The recently appointed Deputy Chairman to the Karnataka Planning Board, CM Ibrahim is optimistic of getting more benefits to the State because of his close ties with Central Ministers.
He cited the names of various Union ministers, who he claimed were his close friends and very powerful at the centre.
The Planning Board has a pivotal role in assisting, formulation and implementation of various development programmes and recommendation of funds to be allocated for such programmes.
Mr. Ibrahim promised to work within the federal structure and not indulge in party politics.
The Planning Board, set up in 1993 is headed by the CM and includes official and non-official member who have expertise and knowledge about various plans/schemes and priorities of the State and advise accordingly.
The Deputy Chairman planned to formulate schemes which impart skills rather than one time benefits. He also stated that the board had plans t extend 50% of benefits, available to PC categories, to APL card holders. It is intending to set up a monitoring system at the District level to oversee the implementation of welfare schemes.Courtesy:Karnataka Muslims
