Chennai, Nov 16: Renowned opthalmologist Dr. J Agarwal passed away after a brief illness here late last night, family sources said on Monday.
He was 79 and is survived by a son Dr. Amar Agarwal, who is also an opthalmologist.
Dr. Agarwal had donated both his eyes.
The eyes were transplanted to two persons by Amar Agarwal, the sources said.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi condoled the death of Dr. Agarwal. He also placed a wreath on the body.
The cremation would take place in the evening, the sources said.
