New Delhi: Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari expressed concern over the arrest of former Union home minister P Chidambaram and the situation of Kashmir. He warned the present rulers saying the cries of the oppressed never go vain. Nature takes revenge with the oppressor.
Citing examples of the past Shahi Imam said Shahjahani masjid has been raising voice against oppression and injustice since day one. Be it the voice against Britishers’ rule in 1857 or voice against emergency. He recalled that all the political parties became united against emergency and brought such a political and social revolution that not only the Congress faced shameful defeat in 1977 but the prime minister could not save the Lok Sabha seat.
Saying that arrest of P Chidambaram is not an ordinary incident, Shahi Imam claimed that the incident teaches a lesson. He recalled that P Chidambaram had defended Batla House police encounter of 2008 and called it genuine, which was actually open atrocity against innocent youth.
