Opposition walkout in Maharashtra legislative council

Mumbai, April 01: Opposition Shiv Sena and BJP members today staged a walkout in Maharashtra Legislative Council over a technical issue.

Earlier, the Upper House was adjourned as the opposition demanded that the Governor’s directives on Statutory Development Boards were not made available to them.

The Governor’s directives on the Statutory Development Boards include allocation of funds to Vidarbha, Marathwada and rest of Maharashtra for irrigation purpose.

When Minister of State for Finance Rajendra Mulak rose to reply on budget, Shiv Sena group leader Diwakar Raote raised the issue that the directives about allocation of funds should have been distributed to the opposition members.

“The minister has no moral right to reply to the budget since the Governor?s directives are not given to us.

How do we know that the directives were being followed by the government?”, Raote said.
