New Delhi, April 27: The Opposition has planned to raise a cut motion in the Parliament to protest against the rising prices of all essential commodities.
The motion will be raised at 3 pm by the Opposition and the voting will take place at 5pm. But the entire effort of the members will go into vain as UPA has been able to manage the magic number from its allies. But the biggest support of the UPA came from Mayawati.
The Chief of BSP has issued a whip to the members of BSP to support the Government on this issue. Meanwhile Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and DMK supremo Karunanidhi has also given a whip to their party MP’s.
But there seems to be cracks in the Opposition unity as some differences have cropped up between BJP and Lalu Prasad Yadav on certain matters. Lalu and Mulayam are not happy with the BJP as they have forgiven the IPL scandal and instead take up the phone tapping issue. In fact, this is going to be the first cut motion in the Indian parliament since independence. It was held earlier in 1946 and it was also defeated by the government of the day.
Earlier, UPA government had to test their strength in the Lok Sabha on July 2008 and they sailed through easily. This time also, luck seems to be running in their favor and they are expected to pass through smoothly.
