Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Monday said that the TRS government was a pro-farmer government and was doing a lot for the welfare of the farm sector.
Speaking to media persons here, the minister said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao himself hails from a farmer’s family and was aware of farm operations and the issues involved in it. KCR knows well the farmers issues and was solving them through various initiatives, the minister said.
Harish Rao said that the state government was taking up numerous projects to provide irrigation but the Opposition parties were approaching courts to delay the development works. He said that the state government has initiated numerous measures like streamlining the market yard functioning. He said that the state government is constructing godowns for every mandal at the cost of Rs 1,000 crore to spruce up storage facilities.
The minister said that the schemes like Mission Kakatiya is bearing fruits as the farmers have enough water resources for the Rabi crop. He took pot shots at the Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy saying that the party which did nothing for the farmers during their regime has no right to speak about the farmers’ welfare.
He said that the Opposition’s efforts to derail the development work in the state would fall flat as the people were realizing the game plan of the Opposition which is aimed at creating hurdles in development and would teach them a lesson in the next elections. (INN)
