Opposition disrupts Parliament again, seeks PM’s resignation

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 1 p.m., while the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2. p.m., following Opposition uproar over alleged scam in top railway appointments, coal block allocation issue and demands for resignation of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

As soon as the Lok Sabha met for the day, members belonging to the BJP, Shiromani Akali Dal, AIADMK, Samajwadi Party, and Left parties thronged the well of the House on different issues.

The BJP was also demanding the resignation of Law Minister Ashwani Kumar and Railway Minister P K Bansal for their alleged role in the cash-for-railway jobs matter and dilution of CBI report respectively.

BJP members also raised slogans against the government’s bid to push through the National Food Security Bill in the Lok Sabha without a proper discussion.

While Shiromani Akali Dal demanded the reopening of the 1984 Delhi riots case, the Samajwadi Party was demanding the implementation of the Sachhar Committee Report on minorities.

As noisy scenes continued, Speaker Meira Kumar first adjourned the House till 12 noon and later the house was adjourned till 1 p.m.

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha.

BJP members rushed into the well of the House, demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister on coal blocks allocation issue, forcing the Chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari to adjourn the House for an hour.

Later the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 p.m. (ANI)
