New Delhi [India]: Bahujan Samaj Party ( BSP) supremo Mayawati on Sunday fired a fresh salvo at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his demonetisation drive, saying the opposition is against the currency swap because they feel the pain being inflicted on the common man.
Addressing a press conference, Mayawati asserted that none of the opposition parties are against ending of black money.
“Opposition feels pain of 90 percent people of the country, that is what we oppose. We aren’t opposing the end of black money,” Mayawati said.
Mayawati also warned Prime Minister Modi that his speech in Khushinagar won’t get him votes in next year’s Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections.
“Purvanchal people are not going to get influenced by the PM’s address . Prime Minister once again in his rally in Kushinagar reiterated those promises which he made at the time of general election and has not even fulfilled even one fourth of them,” she said.
“If Prime Minister wants to develop the Purvanchal area of the state, then instead of talking tall, he will have to do some ground work which he has not done in his two-and-a-half years of rule,” she added.
Further ridiculing the Prime Minister for evoking Gautam Budhha and Saint Kabir in his speech, Mayawati said mere references to spiritual leaders won’t make a difference. The former will have to walk the path that they took to bring about a change in society. (ANI)
