Opposition criticizes Land allotment policy

Hyderabad, November 29: Opposition parties expressed their disappointment and dissatisfaction over land allotment policy of A.P. State Govt. and demanded to accord Legal status and full powers to the proposed Land Management authority.

An all party meeting was convened at Secretariat to consider the draft of the land allotment policy of the Govt. CM presided over the meeting.

TDP member of Assembly R. Chandrasekhar Reddy severely criticized land allotment policy and told that land allotment policy should be legalized. He said that there is no transparency in it. CPIM Secretary B.V. Raghavulu said that certain important points have not been included in the policy document. He stressed the need for the government to give an assurance that it will not sell the land acquired.

He also told the CM to review the allotments made earlier. CM accepted it. CPI Secretary Dr. K. Narayana told that when Kiran Kumar Reddy was Chief whip of the Govt. he had played a pivotal role in allotting lands to private institutions. This is the reason why he is reluctant to review the previous cases. He described the policy as weak and ineffective. He pointed out that one thousand acres of lands was given to illegal occupants. He demanded for the establishment of a separate land protection cell for managing lands. He asked the CM to get back lands worth Rs. 25 thousand crore from unauthorized occupants. Secretary CPI asked the Govt. to survey the lands belonging to Forests and Revenue departments Mr. Shravan Kumar of TRS also criticized the land allotment policy.
