Opposition agrees to formation of 27 districts

Hyderabad: CM of Telangana State, Mr. KCR told that opposition parties have agreed for the enhancement of districts upto 27. It is expected that Govt. will release the draft notification on 22nd August. People will have one month’s time for the submission of suggestions and objections. New districts are likely to be formed on the occasion of Dasehra.

Govt. of Telangana has decided to form 17 new districts in addition to the existing 10 districts with a view to getting the public closer to the Govt. All the opposition parties have welcomed this gesture. CM told that people’s decision would be final. They can submit their opinions and objections in writing in collectorates. If need be one or two more all party meetings would be convened.

CM also told that Govt. of India would be requested to abolish zonal system. Only State and District level posts would continue. People’s elected representatives would continue to function till the end of their terms at district level and Zilla Parishad levels. Govt. has a proposal to form rural and urban mandals.
