Admissions in B.A. (Hons) – JMC and MA (MCJ) till July 9
Hyderabad: Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Maulana Azad National Urdu University is introducing undergraduate program B.A. (Hons) – Journalism and Mass Communication from the current academic year.
Candidates with 10+2 or Equivalent degree with 45% marks in aggregate are eligible for admission in BA (Hons) – JMC. The department is also giving admissions on merit basis in MA (MCJ) for candidates with 45% marks in graduation. The applicants must have passed Urdu as a subject/language/medium at least at 10th/12th /Degree level.
The last date for submission of online application form is July 9. The e-prospectus and Online application forms are available on University website www.manuu.ac.in.
The main objective & focus of the department is to train quality professionals in the field of Mass Communication and Journalism. These programmes provide professional training in the ever-expanding field of Media so as to produce professionals capable to take up emerging challenges in the field of Print and Electronic Media.
Media experts like Mr. Satish Jacob (BBC), Mr. Kamal Khan (NDTV) and Ms. Arfa Khanum Sherwani (The Wire), who recently visited the department, were very much impressed by the latest infrastructure and faculty of the department.
According to Prof. Ehtesham Ahmad Khan, Dean, School of MCJ, the courses have been designed in such a manner that after completion students can easily get job in the field of journalism. Apart from theory, special focus is given on field journalism, so that student can be able to prepare news and design a layout of the newspaper by the end of first semester itself, he added. Many graduates of the department have been absorbed by leading national media institutions. Urdu language and medium have never been a barrier for them but the charm of Urdu has in fact added their worthiness.
