Opportunity to make a career in Media

Faisal Shoaib, a passed out of the Department of Mass Communication & Journalism, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) was recently appointed as Media Analyst at the US Embassy in New Delhi. According to Prof. Ehtesham Ahmed Khan, Head, Dept. of MCJ, Shoaib completed MA MCJ Course from MANUU in the year 2012 and also cleared NET in the same year. He is drawing around Rs. 80,000/- per month as salary from the embassy.

Professor Khan further said that MANUU MCJ students are serving in different fields of Media. Another student of the department, Fida-e-Rasool, has been offered a job in a Multinational Company of Pune on a monthly salary of Rs. 50,000/-. MCJ passed outs are employed not only in India but also abroad. For example, Talha Basheer, is now working as a Translator in Saudi Arabia on a monthly salary of rupees one lakh.

Mr. Mohammad Mustafa Ali Sarwari, Associate Professor expressed his happiness that students of MCJ Department are proving their mettle not only in media or media-related fields but also in competitive examinations. In the year 2011, two students, Iftekhar Aalam and Mohd Aamir Badar, after completing MCJ course were selected for Indian Information Service (IIS) and secured a government job. They are working in RNI and Doordarshan respectively. Mr. Sarwari feels that students of MCJ department have proved that Urdu medium cannot be a barrier in progress or achieving success.

Dr. Mohd. Fariyad, Associate Professor, says that Najamunnisa, a student hailing from Kerala completed MCJ course in 2013 and cleared NET in 2014. Now she is working as an Assistant Professor in a Government College in Kerala.

According to Prof. Khan, admissions for the academic year 2016-17 are currently in progress. The department offers a two-year Post Graduate programme, MAJMC, which consists of four semesters. Candidates who have passed graduation and have studied Urdu as a subject are eligible for admission. The last date for online submission of application form is May 31, 2016.
