Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy today expressed pleasure at “Global Agriculture Leadership Award” offered to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Talking to media persons here, Pocharam said getting such an award is honour to Telangana State and credit goes to the Chief Minister. I am indeed proud to be in KCR’s cabinet”, the minister said. Srinivas Reddy also said that it is great to receive the award on behalf of the State government. However the Opposition could not digest this award that was not offered to the previous government, he charged.
Pocharam fumed at the Congress for being envious and resorting to make false statements on the award. It is totally wrong to make baseless comments on the awards given to the state government for its efforts to strengthen the agriculture sector and providing succour to the farming community. The previous governments left behind loans to the farmers he charged.
However the KCR Government is trying to make the state free from loans and help the farmers in a big way. The crop investment of Rs 8000 per acre will serve the purpose he promised. We have introduced first of its kind special budget for Agriculture to boost farm activity and increase its productivity he said. Farmers’ Coordination Committees will be set up at village, mandal, district and state level to sum up the farmers details for crop investment and land survey will be beginning Sept 15 and come up with details of the lands by December 15.
The official teams will stay put in villages for 10 days each to get complete details of the lands. “We will help the farmers get crop investment and do justice”, he said, adding that KCR was trying to irrigate one crore acres over the next five years. (NSS)
