Oppn campaign wrong on projects; Harish releases Kalwakurty waters

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today slammed the Opposition parties for carrying out misinformation campaign against the irrigation projects.

Speaking at a program after releasing Kalwakurty project waters in Nagarkurnool district here on Sunday, Harish Rao accused the Congress of indulging in misleading people on the irrigation projects and development programs. The Congress during its rule took 20 long years for starting lift works of the project and failed to complete it, he charged. He also rejected the claims of Congress leaders that their regime had completed 90 per cent of the works of Kalwakurty project.

“There is no truth in such vague comments”, the irrigation minister said. The Congress was vying for mileage and resorting to make false propaganda on the projects, which are being now completed during TRS regime. It is a known fact that the TRS dispensation has completed the 90 per cent of the works of this project and we are now able to release waters to the crops and drinking purpose which has been the dream for decades”, he claimed.

Harish Rao said the TRS Government has spent Rs 1200 crore in three years on Palamur projects. Through all the projects getting completed we plan to irrigate 7.5 lakh acres during Rabi season. He said they increased the Kalwakurty project capacity from 25 tmc to 40 tmc. Kalwakurty lift scheme, Koilsagar, Nettempadu, Bheema projects will irrigate crops as per our plan. He also took a dig at the Congress for coming in the way of GO 123 that delayed the works by 9 months. The Opposition parties are getting cursed by the Palamur people for creating hurdles to the irrigation projects and development, he fumed. (NSS)
