Hyderabad, March 18: City police have identified a person based in Sydney, Australia as the one operating two different hate websites against film actors Nandamuri Balakrishna and actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi. Police have sought the help of Interpol to track down and arrest the person.
Cyber crime investigators had earlier found that the hate websites had been operating from Australia and the US. The online content on the sites which included morphed videos, photographs, amusing quotes as well as caricatures of family members of the two Tollywood actors was being operated by fan clubs of both actors, according to police.
Initially, fans of Balakrishna lodged a complaint in February and Chiranjeevi fans complained to Central Crime Station police on March 3. Even as police supposed that fan clubs operating websites, blogs and different groups on Facebook and Twitter were uploading morphed images, it turned out that an unidentified person was maintaining both websites from Sydney. The different hate websites operating are www.wehatebalayya.blogspot.com, www.wehatechiru.blogspot.com, ww.antibalayya.blogspot.com and www.jokesonchiru.com.
One portal was allegedly defaming Balakrishna, NTR junior, Kalayanram and Tarakaratna from Balakrishna clan while the other site targeted Chiru and his brothers Pawan Kalyan, Nagendra Babu, son Ram Charan Teja and his nephew Allu Arjun, with morphed photographs and offensive messages.
Police officials, however, did not disclose the identity of the person operating the websites. Police said they are trying to verify his background.
