Warangal, January 18: Two-year-old Dharavath Mahesh belonging to Chandru thanda of Polepalli village in Thorrur mandal fell into an agricultural borewell this evening. Attempts are on to rescue the child.
A high-capacity excavator has been arranged to carry on the operation being carried out in flood lights till reports last came in.
His parents, Bujji and Ravi, left him and went into the fields for work when the boy kept playing and fell into the well suddenly. He might have sunk 30 metres into the well, according to officials. On information, the Revenue and Police officials rushed to the place and launched attempts to rescue the child.
The boy’s cries were heard for some time. Later, he became silent and it is not known whether he is alive or dead. Chances for his survival are bleak, officials said.
Another borewell is being dug with high capacity 200 CC proclainers parallel to the one in which the boy fell.
When the last reports came in around 12:05 a.m on Monday, he was found moving his arms and legs at the depth of 30 feet according to the footage captured by a night vision camera inserted into the borewell.
Oxygen is also being supplied into the well by 108 ambulance authorities. Apart from a fire engine, 108 ambulance has also been stationed at the spot. District Collector N Sridhar and SP Shanawaz Qasim reached the place.
The borewell was dug 200-feet deep, four months ago, for watering the fields and the casing pipe was laid from 35-feet depth. The borewell is one-feet wide and officials believe that the boy must have got stuck in the casing pipe.
Thorrur CI S M Ali said the incident has occurred as the well has been left uncovered.
