Hyderabad: South Zone Police has again focused on youths, including minors, who are roaming on the streets after 11 pm in the old city without any purpose and ruining their lives by becoming victims of hardcore criminals. Therefore, in order to prevent them from such anti-social activities leading towards bad habits and to control unlawful activities, the South Zone Police conducted Operation Chabutra on the intervening night of February 24 between 1 am to 3 am.
The police teams have intercepted some 295 youths, including five minors in the entire Zone while they were roaming on the streets and sitting on Chabutras in the old city without any purpose and causing disturbance to common public and sent them for counseling. In order to create a sense about the current wrong activities of the youth, their parents were called to Gulzar Function Hall at Eitbar Chowk and conducted counseling.
Speaking to the media, South Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police V. Satyanarayana, IPS, said they were conducting the operation in order to make the old city peaceful and to create a sense of security in the minds of the common public. “We are conducting the drive not to disturb or cause any inconvenience to the general public but to make the youth alert and make them not to cause road accidents with their Dare Devil Bike stunts at late nights. These stunts cause damage to them and also to the innocent passersby”, he added.
The Commissioner said most of the parents of the youth were working in the Gulf countries due to which they cannot look after their children’s daily activities. Usually, parents send money to their children for their daily needs but the youth were misusing it due to lack of guidance. Youth are indulging in bike stunts, street fights and rash driving and so on.
Over petty issues, the youths were quarreling leading to murder as reported at First Lancer and Rachakonda police limits. But till date from January 1, no single murder case was reported in the South Zone. South Zone is now totally peaceful, he added. (NSS)
