Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Content Developer II works in the User Enablement Group to write and edit technical documentation and training curricula for Magnitude Software products. We are looking for candidates who are:
Capable of understanding and clearly describing complex technical information
Comfortable working independently as well as in a team
Confident soliciting information from subject matter experts
Enthusiastic about learning new skills
Able to juggle multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities
Core Responsibilities
Write traditional types of user documentation (e.g. context-sensitive help, installation guides, and release notes) as well as online training course content (e.g. scripts and slide decks for course videos)
Install and use assigned Magnitude Software products, and develop in-depth understanding of them
Support multiple product lines concurrently
Adhere to processes, standards, and schedules for documentation and curricula
Develop familiarity with supplied tools for documentation and curricula
Required Qualifications / Experience:
Bachelors degree (technical writing, English, or other major)
2 to 8 years of technical writing experience in a software company
Fluency in the English language, styles, and conventions, with the ability to master technical concepts and explain them in terms appropriate for the target audience
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with others in writing, editing and reviewing large or complex documents
Knowledge of HTML, XML, and related technologies
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat
General knowledge of IT-related concepts
Familiarity with development processes for software, documentation, and curricula
Desired Qualifications:
Certification in Information Mapping
Familiarity with structured documentation and single source authoring concepts
Familiarity with tools such as the Adobe Technical Communication Suite and oXygen XML Editor
Familiarity with video-editing and production tools, such as Adobe Captivate and Camtasia
Exposure to Oracle E-Business Suite, similar product suites, or database technologies
Working knowledge of Web formats and technologies such as CSS, XSLT and JavaScript
Aptitude for conceptualizing graphics on complex concepts
Experience working in a multi-disciplined team with geographically distributed co-workers”
