The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at NTU is a national science Research Centre of Excellence. Its mission is to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, toward safer and more sustainable societies.
The Earth Observatory of Singapore invites applications for a Field Engineer (Seismic).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installation of new seismic stations
Setting up telemetry if needed
Maintenance of the seismic networks including instrumentation troubleshooting, data download and telemetry (if installed)
Setting up and maintenance of server to be set up in host countries
Archiving data at EOS Data Centre respecting international standards
Examining quality of data and take follow up action
Keep relevant parties at EOS, including TO and PIs, up-to-date on equipment status and developments
Keep well communication with PI and TO to plan, install and maintain the instruments to provide the high-quality data for the specified scientific purpose.
REQUIREMENTS:
Diploma in Engineering (any of electronic, telecom, electrical) with at least two years experience in handling seismic or other geophysical instruments OR Bachelor in Engineering (any of electronic, telecom, electrical) OR Graduate in Physics with at least one year experience in handling seismic instruments OR Graduate in GeophysicsExpertise in using GIS softwares like ArcGIS or other similar software.
Comfortable with frequent and extensive travels to remote places of different South and SE Asian countries, e.g Myanmar, Indonesia, Nepal etc and physically fit and motivated to travel via various modes of transportation.
