The Role
Under the general direction of the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Officer will play an integral role in the mission of the Office of Admissions, in support of the committees on Admission in selecting the most appropriate qualified classes while providing excellent timely customer service to both internal and external constituencies.

Primary responsibilities include managing the administration of the applicant interview cycle, liaising with Committee on Admissions members, report creation for both internal an external audiences, maintaining Office of Admissions website, and supporting the office of Admissions’ activities which include but are not limited to: processing applications, advising of applicants and the review and data entry of relevant applicant documentation.

Position Activities:
– Manage all administrative aspects of applicant interview cycles, serving as primary contact for Committee on Admissions members, applicants, and colleagues.
– Create and analyze statistical reports needed to support Office of Admissions activities.
– Participate in the data entry, follow through and summarization of applications, identifying any errors or omissions and ensuring all deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner.
– Responsible for investigating and analyzing information, forming appropriate conclusions and reporting them to the Director of Admissions.
– Maintain strict confidentiality of applicant files and office documents.
– Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Office of Admissions policies and procedures manual, ensuring compliance and consistency in own area of operations.
– Suggest procedural improvements and implementation for the most efficient and appropriate customer service.
– Work very closely with colleagues in Educational Computing, Recruitment, & Student Affairs.
– Maintain the Admissions section of the WCMC-Q website.
– Represent the Office of Admissions & Weill Cornell Medical College in a professional manner.
– Liaises with WCMC-Q faculty & staff, WCMC-NY, and CU administrative staff, as appropriate and as directed.
– Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or related field.
– Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information, document work in progress, complete routine paperwork, resolve customer complaints and concerns, and organize and coordinate all aspects of administrative and logistical tasks.
– Ability to work extended and weekend hours as needed, particularly during the Admissions peak season.
– Three years of local and international administrative experience or equivalent educational experience.
– Administrative experience in Medical school admissions of one year is required.
– Previously demonstrated advanced proficiency in MS Suite products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
– Previously demonstrated advanced oral and written English communication skills.
– Advanced interpersonal and negotiating skills with a highly professional demeanor.
– Detailed-oriented and self motivated, and able to investigate and analyze information, draw appropriate conclusions and bring to the attention of the director as necessary.
– Advanced administrative skills such as report creation, record maintenance and work in process documentation.

Highly Desired Requirements:
– Prior experience in international, healthcare, or academic environment.
– Knowledge of the spectrum of international educational credentials.
– Knowledge of international admissions standards, policies, procedures and eligibility requirements.
– Fluency in Arabic.
– Prior experience working with a Student Information System.
– Prior experience in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
– Prior experience in a multi-cultural working environment.
