Hyderabad, June 30: Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy Monday warned the ministers concerned that they would be held responsible for the party’s performance in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections which are likely to be held in August.
It may be recalled that M Mareppa and Maganti Babu were forced to resign as ministers when the party’s candidates had lost local ZPTC byelections to Alur and Dendulur segments last year.
Reddy, speaking at a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan, told the ministers representing Greater Hyderabad (D Nagender, M Mukesh Goud), Ranga Reddy (P Sabitha Reddy) and Medak (J Geeta Reddy, Sunitha Laxma Reddy) districts that they would be held responsible for the party’s poll prospects.
“GHMC polls is a test for Nagender. We will take it seriously if the party loses the polls’’, he warned.
Both Reddy and Veerappa Moily, at a separate meeting with district and city Congress committee president and PCC district coordinators, stressed the need of inviting `new blood’ into the party.
There were several dissatisfied persons in other political parties, and there is nothing wrong to take them into the Congress.
Reddy, Moily and PCC president D Srinivas urged the participants to strive hard for the party’s victory.
Ticket allotments should be made keeping aspirants’ track record, their local image and winning chances in view, they said.
