Only 50 lecturers in 22 Govt. colleges

Intermediate education is a crucial stage in the life a student. At this stage, he has to decide the branch of study he is going to select after completing intermediate course.

It is most unfortunate for the citizens of Hyderabad that only 50 lecturers are working in 22 Govt. junior colleges in the city. During the past ten years, no new lecturers were appointed. With this, one can guess the attitude of the Govt. towards education.

By not appointing permanent lecturers in Govt. junior colleges, Govt. intends to promote junior colleges in private sector. Out of 22 Govt. junior colleges in Hyderabad city, there are 8 Urdu medium junior colleges. In 2008 Govt. started three junior colleges at Falaknuma, Barkas and Golconda but he posts of lecturers were not sanctioned for these colleges.

Earlier, there were 124 sanctioned posts in 19 Govt. junior colleges but now only so lecturers are working on permanent basis.

In all, these should have been 490 posts of lecturers in Govt. junior college. In this manner Govt. should fill up 400 posts of lecturers.

Nearly 12,400 students study in these junior colleges. Due to lack of lecturers the future of these students is getting dark. Mr. Mohammed Masooduddin Ahmed, President of State Urdu Teachers’ Federation appealed to the Govt. to fill up the vacant posts of lecturers as early as possible. He asked the Govt. to stop the system of part time or contract lecturers.
