It seems that now the Muslims will have to seek permission from police to offer namaz in Masajid and now the police will decide how many Muslims will offer namaz in a particular masjif, which area they must belong to, and also they must have an identity card while offering namaz. You would be surprised to read this but it is happening at Masjid Mohammedia recently rehabilitated at Uppal. Communal elements in police are threatening Imam of Masjid and other musallis. President Masjid Committee and Imam of the masjid Hafiz Omer Shafi told that inspector Nagachari threatened him to send to jail even it costs his own transfer; ‘you are responsible for this situation’ the inspector claims.
It must be noted that a local influential person Laxmi Narayana is mounting pressure on the police and boundary wall is being constructed around the masjid to prevent Muslims from performing prayers. Since a large number of Muslims are coming for prayer during Ramadan, the police have restricted the number of musallis to just 15. Though a city MLA has met commissioner Cyberabad Tirmal Rao but no one dared to ask how police can have the authority to restrict number of musallis.
