Online prostitution racket busted, owner arrested

New Delhi, May 08: A management graduate was arrested in the national capital for operating an online prostitution racket with a well-heeled pan India clientele, police said Sauturday.

Sudhanshu Gupta, 32, was arrested Friday from north Delhi area of Shalimar Bagh on a tip-off, said the police.

“He completed his graduation in 2003 and worked with a multinational bank in Delhi for an year. He then shifted to a share brokering company before moving to Jodhpur in Rajasthan where he set up a travel agency,” said the police official.

Gupta came to Delhi in 2010 on a business trip and met a call girl. Together they decided to start an “Escort” web portal and launched “www.indiaescorts.com”, he said.

According to the police, Gupta developed a network of call girls all over India and catered to customers all across the country.

The clients entered their requisition on the website and the nearest available call girl was sent to the client, according to the official.

“Each girl charged around Rs.5 lakh to to Rs.7 lakh for a couple of days. The price was fixed by Gupta who would get about 30 to 40 percent of the total amount which was deposited by the girl in a given bank account,” a police official said.

Gupta would then withdraw the amount through an ATM. Neither the client nor the call girl ever confronted him.

“He was wanted by the Bhopal police since March this year as one of his call girls, who snitched on him, was arrested there,” the official added.
