On Thursday, Karnataka State Tax Advocates Association opposed the recent notification by Commissioner for Commercial Taxes in which it has been made mandatory for all traders having annual turnover of Rs 50 lakh to upload their sales transaction on the official website.
It is an impossible task for most traders as they have more than 1,000 invoices every month and it is not possible to get them scanned and uploaded on the website said Association President S K Nath.
According to Nath, if such a move has to be initiated, it should be first for public limited companies and manufacturing units having turnover of over Rs 20 crore.
He further said that many traders are not computer literate and will have to invest in a set up and then hire one to do the job. In the past, these details were provided by hand and there was no requirement to be sent online.
Already many traders disagree with the move, the memorandum has been submitted to the commissioner to re-look into the matter, he added.
