Online English language course launched

Hyderabad, September 26: In a bid to help students community and working professionals to improve their English language and communication skills, Ebek Language Laboratories launched an online English language solutions here today.

Ebek is an agent of the Cambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), a department of University of Cambridge. Cambridge ESOL developed BULAT S (Business Language Testing Service) online course under the banner ‘Cambridge one’.

The course offers flexibility and convenience to master all the four English communication skills– listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Lauding the initiative of Ebek, the commissioner said he was doing the same, what now Ebek was doing, while he was working as commissioner of collegiate education.

‘’I visited several colleges and found students lacking confidence despite being intelligent, enthusiastic due to lack of communication skills,’’ he recalled.

The 50-hour course has three modules–Reading& Listening (30 hrs), Speaking (10 hrs) and writing (10 hrs). Fee for the online course is `3,350.

On completion of the preparatory course, the candidates would have the option of appearing for BULAT S test and get certificate from University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, by paying an additional fee of `1,000.

Divided into small user-friendly modules of 10 to 20 minutes each, it has model videos to enhance one’s speaking skills and the option to record one’s answer and play back.

According to TK Arunachalam, development manager, India, Cambridge ESOL Examinations, BULAT S is emerging as the global benchmark for business English used by a large number of global employers.

The advantage is student profiles featured on Ebek’s corporate network are linked to employers making it easy for aspirants to find job.

Geetha Durairaj, a professor from the English and Foreign Language University, Ebek CMD G Srikanthan, Prof. KS Ramachandra Rao of the Siva Sivani Institute of Management, Phanibhushan Sistu of the Cognizant Technology Solutions took part in a panel discussion on ‘Importance of English for better employment.’’ The programme was attended by academicians and placement incharges of several colleges.
