Online counselling going on smoothly

Vijayawada, July 26: The online counselling of EAMCET medical stream started at NTR University of Healthy Sciences and three other centres in the State, including Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati today.

Eleventh rank holder Jakkala Srilakshmi Surya Tejaswini of Mandapeta in East Godavari district was the first candidate to enter the counselling hall. She opted for an MBBS seat in Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad.

Top rankers, including 32, 37, 38, 44, 47, 48 and 49 attended counselling here.

University registrar T Venugopal Rao presented a bouquet to Tejaswini and congratulated her for getting admission first.

Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of counselling session, Venugopal Rao said they would complete counselling up to 1000 ranks on the first day. Counselling on July 27 has been put off due to byelections in Telangana.

Anjaneya Reddy of Machayapalem in Bellamkonda mandal of Guntur district who got 578th rank, failed to get admission as he is yet to attain the prescribed age of 17 years.

NTR University online counselling camp officer R Sasank Babu told Express that counselling for over 700 candidates was completed by 5 pm. Online counselling is going on smoothly without any hitches. However, the first ranker in EAMCET medical stream who hails from Hyderabad, did not register her name for counselling on the first day.

920 MBBS seats filled

VIJAYAWADA: NTR University of Health Sciences filled 920 MBBS and three BDS seats on the first day of Eamcet medical counselling today.

Online medical counselling was conducted at NTR Health University, JNTU- Hyderabad, Andhra University-Visakhapatnam, and Sri Venkateswara University-Tirupati. In all, 488 candidates got their names registered for medical counselling in Hyderabad, 142 in Visakhapatnam, 98 in Tirupati and 239 in Vijayawada, counselling centre camp officer R Sasank Babu said.
