Hyderabad, October 13: One-way traffic regulation will be introduced within a week on the road-stretch linking Ravindra Bharati-Lakdikapul junction-Hotel Dwaraka-AG’s Office.
The traffic police have asked GHMC to remove traffic medians to some extent, shift electric poles, erect signages and install some mobile barricades before the new regulation is enforced.
Meeting
The issue also figured in last month’s meeting of Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA) under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary P. Ramakanth Reddy where members strongly recommended it to ensure seamless travel.
GHMC’s Traffic and Transportation wing has identified junctions at Hotel Dwaraka and Iqbal Minar (near Metro Rail Office) for some tweaking for smooth movement of vehicles as they are allowed to take a turn at these places.
The existing one-way is from Hotel Ayodhya junction to Sant Nirankari Bhavan and onwards to Lakdikapul.
Once the new regulations come into force, traffic coming from British Library side proceeding towards Mehdipatnam cannot take a right turn at Ravindra Bharati, but move ahead to Police Control Room and take a U-turn to get onto the DGP office road.
Traffic from Nampally going towards Secunderabad also has to take the DGP office road and go straight till Hotel Krishna and take a right turn at Hotel Dwaraka and onwards to Telephone Bhavan.
Traffic from Masab Tank towards Nampally will have to take the Hotel Dwaraka-Iqbal Minar-RBI stretch.
Private buses will not be allowed to pick up passengers between Lakdikapul and Telephone Bhavan.
They will be allowed to do so at Mint compund between 8 and 10 p.m.
Another road likely to go one-way will be between GHMC office and Telugu Talli flyover. Traffic from Secretariat will have to turn left towards Ambedkar statue and take a turn at Liberty junction to reach the municipal office.
