One in ten young men have never attended school: study

New Delhi, February 22: One in ten young men and one in four young women in the country have never attended school, a new study has revealed.

The findings of the ‘Youth In India’ survey show that young women in rural areas and married young women were particularly disadvantaged, one-third of rural young women and almost two-fifths of married young women had never been to school.

A state-wise analysis shows 10-16 per cent of young women and 38-51 per cent of young women from northern states had never been school, compared to 2-8 per cent and 5-21 per cent, respectively in Maharashtra and the southern states.

Attainment of educational milestones were also varied.

In total, just two in five young men and one in three young women had completed high school.
