One lakh seats vacant in degree colleges

Hyderabad: Chairman of State Council for Higher Education, Prof. T. Papi Reddy announced the end of web options for admissions into various degree colleges. He further told that the students were given many chances for exercising their options. They will now be allotted seats in various colleges. Nearly 16000 students were deprived of seats since they did not exercise web option.

In all, 44000 students sought admissions.

It may be mentioned that students had demanded that they should be given admissions against the vacant seats since there are two lakh seats vacant. This demand of the students was overlooked by the selection committee.

As per the selection committee report, nearly one lakh seats are vacant in various degree colleges.

It has also been decided to cancel internal examinations of the first semester which were scheduled to be held from 14th to 17th September.
