Hyderabad, October 31: One person was killed as heavy rains continued to lash coastal Andhra Pradesh and several places in Rayalseema region for the second consecutive day today.
As the north-east monsoon became vigorous, Chittoor, Nellore, West Godavari, Krishna, East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts in coastal region have been receiving heavy rains.
As many as 51 mandals have been affected due to heavy rains in the coastal district and paddy crop on about 20,000 hectares was submerged besides 1,500 houses inundated.
One person was killed in Naidupet mandal in Nellore district in rain-related incident, an official release said.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah, after a review meeting with Chief Secretary S V Prasad, Commissioner Disaster Management T Radha, directed the district collectors concerned to take all precautionary steps in view of heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast specially in the coastal districts.
