Lakhimpur (UP), October 27: One person was killed and four others injured when a nearly 110-feet high under- construction chimney of a brick kiln collapsed in Kheri area of the district, police said here today.
Barish Ali (25) was killed on the spot while four other labourers were injured when the chimney collapsed in Rampur village last evening, they said.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Avinash Singh said sub standard construction led to the mishap.
The contractor and the brick kiln owner were absconding after the incident.
A thorough probe would be conducted into the matter and appropriate action will be taken against those found guilt, the SDM said.
