One killed after roof of Dhanbad coal mine collapses

One miner was killed and three others are feared dead after the roof of a mine in Basantimata colliery near Dhanbad caved-in on Monday.

The colliery is part of the Basantimata-Dahibari cluster run by Bharat Coking Coal Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited with its headquarters in Dhanbad.

The accident occurred at the Sushil incline of the mine at around 11.30 am today. Initially 7 miners were trapped inside the mine. Three of them managed to escape with minor injuries.

Rescue and relief workers are the spot and have begun operations to save the trapped miners.
